50 injured in Cape Town bus collision
July 30 2017– At least 50 people were injured when a bus and a car collided on the N1 at the Klipheuwel turn-off north of Cape Town late on Sunday afternoon, paramedics said.
When ER24 arrived on the scene just after 5pm, two people from the car had to be extricated with the jaws-of-life. The rest of the patients were “walking on the scene”, ER24 spokeswoman Ineke van Huyssteen said.
Injuries sustained varied from minor to serious. Two people from the car were in a serious condition. ER24, as well as other medical services on the scene, transported the injured to nearby hospitals for further medical care.
The circumstances surrounding the accident were not yet known, but police and local authorities were on the scene for further investigations, says Van Huyssteen. – ANA
