POLICE have recovered the body of another illegal Zimbabwean miner from a mine in Welkom and the South African Police Service (SAPS) is appealing to the relatives of the deceased to come forward.
The bodies of the miners, who are commonly referred to as zamas zamas were recovered by the police, after being found underground by Eland mine employees on 19 September 2016.

About 70 illegal miners mostly Zimbabweans were arrested in August this year at Welkom, while the death of three illegal Zimbabwean miners the following month, caused a public outcry and an appeal to the government to decriminalise the practise.
