Cape Town Jazz Festival off to a resounding start

OTMarch 30  2017– THE 18th edition of the Cape Town International Jazz Festival got off to a resounding start earlier this week as several artists entertained music lovers with a sound fest at a free concert in Cape Town’s Greenmarket Square ahead of the festival’s official launch on (today) Friday.

South Africa’s Mango Groove’s Claire Johnston, American all female RnB group En Vogue and Mozambique’s Moreira Chonguica entertained the crowds with their tunes.

Feet were tapping and jazz lovers have plenty to look forward to as the festival kicks off on Friday.

The line up features renown artists such as South Africa’s own Judith Sephuma, The Rudimentals, trumpeter Darren English, Thandiswa Mwazi, Soweto String Quartet, American jazz singer Gretchen Parlato, English singer and songwriter Laura Mvula and American saxophonist Reedman Rudresh Mahanthappa among others.

The Cape Town International Jazz Festival runs from today  March 31 – April 1 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. – ANA
