September 5 2017 – IT WILL be D day for ZSP holders, when SA Home Affairs minister Hlengiwe Mkhize finally announces the conditions and processed to be followed for the re-application of the Zimbabwean Special Permit.
Mkhize will make a public announcement in Pretoria on the 8th of this month, after months of anxiety by the thousands of Zims in SA who are worried about their fate.
“This process follows the initial Special Dispensation for Zimbabweans that was approved in April 2009 to document Zimbabwean nationals who were in South Africa illegally,” says a statement issued by the SA Home Affairs today.
This follows approval by the SA Cabinet on 01 August 2017, that the Department of Home Affairs could reopen the re-application process for the current Zimbabwean Special Permit holders, under certain conditions.
The current Zimbabwean Special Permit, which about 250 000 Zimbabweans hold, expires on 31 December 2017. – FOLLOW and LIKE us on FaceBook for the latest news updates: ZimsInSA.com reporter
