Former captain, Heath Streak now Zimbabwe cricket coach

FORMER  cricket captain Heath Streak is Zimbabwe’s  new head coach after Dav Whatmore was fired in June, while ex South Africa bowler,  Makhaya Ntini  who has been caretaker coach since Whatmore’s sacking  will revert to his role as bowling coach.

Currently the bowling coach of the Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League, Streak’s last international job was as bowling coach of Bangladesh, having previously held the same position with Zimbabwe.

“I think work ethics is the first think I will prioritize,” the 42-year-old Streak says.

“We need to get guys into the right mindset. Obviously, I will try to use the experience I have gained as a coach in Bangladesh, here in Zimbabwe and the IPL.”

Streak’s first duties will be a two-match home test series with Sri Lanka at the end of this month, and then a one-day triangular series also involving West Indies. – AP
