THE MDC T has sent a congratulatory message to South African based Zimbabwean International Khama Billiat who plays for the premiership side Mamelodi Sundowns for scooping three most prestigious awards in the 2016 PSL Awards recently .
Billiat won the PSL Footballer of the Year with a R250 000 prize money, the ABSA Player of the Players Award with R150 000 prize money and ABSA Midfielder of the year which earned him R50 000.
“Indeed our Warriors diminutive midfielder shined, rising the flag of our beloved country high,”says MDC T Shadow Minister of Sport and Recreation Clifford Hlatywayo.
“Football in SA is well supported by all stakeholders which include their national broadcasters SABC and Super Sport with big ponsors like ABSA, NEDBank, Telkom and MTN, the ; professional South African Football Association as well as the Government through its Ministry of Sports and Recreation.”
“Billiat made it in foreign soils, we say keep it up and continue shinning to the next season. You made us proud as a nation. Khama has shown that he is now ripe for the European leagues,” says Hlatywayo, adding that the situation was different in Zimbabwe where he accused politicians of interefering with the administration of soccer
“Its a shame. Thats why most of our gallant sporting heroes and heroines are scattered all over the world,” he says.
Meanwhile the opposition party offered its condolences on the death of former Caps United coach Gishom Gizha Ntini describing him as one of the “best coaches of our lifetime”.
” Ntini contributed immensely to the development of soccer and realisation of talent in Zimbabwe. He had a strong belief that any one can make it in football. Thus, he opted to offer his services to relatively marginalised areas such as Chiredzi and Triangle,” says Hlatshwayo
Ntini passed away last Sunday in Botswana after a short illness. – Patience Rusere
