September 15 2017 – ZIMBABWEANS living in SA who are not ZSP holders should not apply for the newly introduced Zimbabwe Exemption Permit, whose application process starts today, says chairperson of the Zimbabwe Community in SA.
“The application that starts tomorrow (today) is for ZSP holders only. If you never had a permit before, pls do not bother. We are getting lots of messages from people who never applied for special permits,” say Ngqabutho Mabhena.
But Mabhena says his organisation will raise the issue about those who had DZP in 2010 but didnot apply for ZSP in 2014, with Zimbabwean Home Affairs minister Ignatius Chombo who will be visiting SA in two weeks time.
“Those who never received their ZSP because of errors (permits sent back for rectification) should be able to apply but we will confirm this with the DHA tomorrow(today), adds Mabhena.
Another issue that has set a number of ZSP holders into panic are reports that Harare is having problems in printing out passports because of forex shortages.
“We are talking to the office of the Minister in Harare to ensure that , those who applied for passports are able to obtain them in time. We also hope that the one day or three day passports will be made available in the next few days, ” adds Mabhena.
