Tuku, Zhakata and Nox promise Zimbabweans in PE a rare musical treat
23 May 2016 – ZIMBABWEANS in Port Elizabeth are in for a rare musical treat this weekend, when veteran musician Oliver Mtukudzi partners with Leonard Zhakata and Nox, to for the first time in the coastal city of Port Elizabeth, this weekend at Lillian Ngoyi Sports Centre.
“ As Silver promotions we urge people to come in numbers and enjoy music from the country’s top performers,” says promoter of the show Victor Chipato
Zhakata, who many Zimbabweans (especially the older generation) will remember for the hit song, Mugove is ecstatic to share the stage with Tuku, who occasionally performs in SA and Nox who is based in JoBurg.
“It is a privilege to share the stage with the veteran musician beyond our borders, I know he is a crowd puller and a crowds’ favourite wherever he goes and imagine how I have to prove to be worthy the combination,” says Zhakata adding that Zimbabweans in SA also need to enjoy musicians from home.
Zhakata also promises fans a show to remember that will include a sneak preview from his upcoming album.
“ Nearly three decades with 20 albums to my name, obviously we will play from yesteryear to current hits, and we will also give them a taste n feel of the forthcoming album that is due for launch end of June, “ says Zhakata who says contrary to rumours, he is still going strong in the industry
“I see this tour opening new avenues for us because people where greatly misled by the wrong flow of information and had written me off as down and out.”
“However all they need is to come and witness or ask local Zimbos before time, “Hatipere zvekumhanya”, we simply utilise what God gave us which is the gift of music,” he says as a parting shot. – Patience Rusere
