08 Janaury 2017 – AFTER a standoff over money issues between national team soccer players and and ZIFA, which delayed their initial departure, slated for Saturday, the Warriors have finally left or Cameroon.
The first group of players left this morning for Ethiopia before connecting to Cameroon, with the second group leaving this afternoon.
Source at Zifa say the two parties finally reached an agreement yesterday(Saturday) but have been forced to travel in groups because of the limited seats available.
Details of the agreement were not available at the time of going to Press but the players were demanding US$ 5 000 each per match as appearance fees and a US$ 300 daily allowance. But Zifa was offerieng US$ 500 per person in appearance fees for each match.
This resulted in players boycotting a gala dinner, in which acting President Emmerson Mnanagwa was guest of honour, attracting public outrage by the Zimbabwean community.
