It wasn’t me, Zuma denies involvement in granting Grace immunity
August 31 2017 – PRESIDENT Jacob Zuma has denied any involvement in SA’s decision to grant Zimbabwean first lady Grace Mugabe, after allegedly assaulting a SA woman a few weeks ago.
Responding to a question from DA leader Mmusi Maimane, Zuma said on Thursday (today) it was not true to say he had allowed an abuse of the rule of law, as police had been eager to investigate the matter.
“The police were very active — were very involved in dealing with that matter, and then actions were taken,” he said, referring to Miniter Maite Nkoana-Mashabane’s announcement that Mrs Mugabe had been granted immunity, Zuma told the National Assembly.
“I was not involved in the process. So I am not going to give you an answer that is not there,” he said.
“I am not a lawyer and I don’t know how the matter came to a point where it came. I can’t lie,” added Zuma.
The decision is being challenged in court by the young model who claims Mugabe savagely beat her with an extension court, Gabriella Engels, and civil rights group Afriforum. – ANA
