April 18 2017 – ZIMBABWEANS living in SA, will be holding celebrations to mark Independence Day this weekend in Johannesburg, where all Zimbabweans in Mzansi are invited.
“We are inviting all Zimbabweans from all walks of life to come regardless of their political orientation and we will also be having other nationalities who are proud to be associated with Zimbabwe,” says organising committee spokesman Morelife Mapeture.
The event will be held on the 22 April on Saturday at Turfontein Primary School
” Arrangements for Zimbabwe@37 independence celebrations reached high fever in South Africa,” says Mapeture.
” We will have speeches from invited guests from Zimbabwean embassy , South African government officials and also members of the ANC,” says Mapeture.
“Food and drinks , will be served and Zimbabweans from all walks of life can socialise, get to know each other as compatriots in a peaceful setting and no politics will be allowed,” he adds.
Meanwhile President Robert Mugabe called upon Zimbabweans to “uphold and cherish the values that informed the liberation struggle, at a colourful ceremony that was held in Harare today. – Patience Rusere
