June 10 2017 – IT IS no secret that Zimbabwe is at crossroads. The country has an almost non existent infrastructure.
Its roads resemble disused mines with potholes become the norm in almost all roads in the country. Hospitals have no medicine and banks have no cash.
I can go on about the list of failures by the Zanu PF but my article is largely on why I believe Nkosana Moyo is the dark horse in the upcoming elections.
The problems in Zimbabwe are a result of leadership failure. The current crop of leadership in both the ruling party and opposition is pregnant with corrupt and non competent individuals who have presided over the demise of Zimbabwe.
Robert Mugabe has failed is the head of the country since 1980 and arrest and prosecute corrupt government officials who have looted money meant for development.
The fact that of late he has spent millions of US dollars in overseas trips when the economy is bleeding speaks of a leader without any moral consciousness.
The current opposition parties also have leadership that has presided over corrupt urban councils in the case of the MDC T.
And NPP’s Joyce Mujuru was Mugabe’s second in command for two decades and was part and parcel of the regime that has failed the nation.
Morgan Tsvangirai has held the position of the party’s President since 1999 and despite failure to run the urban councils, he still wants to go for the highest office.
His family has been linked to some scandals and currently both his son and daughter are under investigations according to media reports.
What Zimbabwe needs at the moment is a political party led by a competent, capable and business minded individual who has a proven record of success and shunning corruption.
The time has come when as citizens we must stop voting for mediocrity but only quality leadership.
There enter Nkosana Moyo, an accomplished academic and business person who is on record dumping Zanu PF gravy train because he realised that the regime was corrupt and was not serving the interests of the people but those of a few elite and politically connected.
The reason why there is so much corruption happening is because the current crop of leaders is corrupt. A fish starts to rot from the head.
It is therefore important that all moderate Zimbabweans stop the idea of voting for someone because he has been in politics for long or has shouted “Mugabe must go” the loudest.
It’s time we scrutinize the kind of political leadership presenting itself to us and only vote for those whose ideas and ideology is that of a non corrupt and inclusive government.
There is no better leader to lead the ship than Nkosana Moyo who not only has vast experience in corporate governance but is an astute political guru.
What Moyo needs to do is to avoid surrounding himself with recycled politicians but assemble a team of technocrats, corruption free people who are competent in running councils and government structures.
The people of Zimbabwe will vote for a person who will bring real change and has a clear strategy on how he will turn the fortune of the nation.
For some of us who have read about Nkosana and followed his work and observed his success in business and corparate social responsibility programmes and listened to him articulate the Zimbabwe that he desires, I have hope and faith in him a the man prepares to launch his political party.
The journey is about to begin. The future is in our hands.
